The Not-So-Innocent Tool of the Internet

The Internet can hold a lot of secrets that we may never know. And one way to find them is to use the search tool, and look at what people are searching nowadays. Well, now we can say that they are embracing the "IT lifestyle" the government's been talking about altough not in the way they wanted it to be. But still, we can also say that these people are "utilizing the Internet" to gather err.... "information" and "research". Whatever they wanted to find lah.

Well, this little box up here is from my Friendster account. Some of the things that goes on in the minds of normal (maybe not so) Malaysians. Let's see... The first one doesn't sound too obscene, these searches are probably started by someone and someone else saw the search category and so on until it tops the search list, I mean, come on, which guy wouldn't want to check out what will come up on their screen, right? =P The second one is acceptable, most probably an Mp3, video or lyrics search. The third is in Chinese and I can't read them even if they are the usual profanities which I hear (and say) everyday. The same goes for no.7. (Can someone please translate for the bi-lingual writer who's limited to BM and English here? =) ) Fourth is the same as the first, I guess there are more pretty and cute Malaysians compared to the Japanese than I thought. Fifth is already obscene, why cant that guy just type "sex" and get results that streaches far and wide, from American bimbos to horny Mongoloids? I dunno what does "ramas" means in no.6 (I'm not so good in my mother tongue's vocab). Now here comes no.8, I reckon it's the Malaysian version of the popular television series "Desperate Housewives". People who searched for this please go find single women lah... Ninth is for those who wants some romance in their relationship (how sweet..) or had just realized that Valentine's had "just" passed. And finally the last entry is for those guys who thinks a girl likes him (or just plain perasan). This needs no further elaboration as the question explains itself clearly.

And there you have it, simple words which can mean a lot, just like a secret, once you scratch the top, more will appear. Malaysia oh Malaysia, your colors are a mismatch of contrasting tones and faded glories.
