Meandering through the smoke and past nostalgias *
The air was crisp, spring freshness brought on by the westerly winds, brilliant blue of the cloudless sky, wonderful spring weather. That was Monday 16th of October 2006, the type of day that clearly explains my stereotype of a wonderful spring day. It was also this blog's second anniversary.

Well, compare this with what's going on back home. That nostalgic smoky, throat-ripping scent and taste of the haze, which I narrowly escaped from last year (thank God for Bali). I'm not bragging about the quality of the air here (but you know, it's still worth talking because it's so wonderful, I'm just syiok sendiri-ing), I just felt that the haze has a nostalgic quality to it.

So when my ashtray on the balcony caught fire due to circumstances beyond my powers...

...it reminded me of the fire me and my brother made to burn a rat's nest in the roof of my family's chicken coop. Huge ass fires, until my dad thought we had incinerated that part of the backyard.

Good old memories, those photos were taken 3 years ago.

So it's always a good idea to have a camera of any kind within reach in situations like this. Someday when you look back at this moment and laugh at your silly old self.

That surreal, mysterious but nostalgic flame. The most common fire-related thing I frequently see are fire trucks with their blaring siren and piercing lights. And probably cigarettes.

Fire, flame, smoke, haze, open-burning... Something I must see when I get back.

Melbourne blues - a photoblog
It's been a month since my last post and I guess it'll be couple of weeks or so till my next one. It's that time of the year again, busy days and sleepless nights. Almost 8 months since I arrived in Melbourne, I must say, it's been an eye-opening experience for me. Time passed by like a click of the mouse. 2 more months this strange land before I'm back in KL again, to relive the past nostalgias which is still vivid in my mind, the transition from KL to Melbourne never really occured to me actually.

Melbourne's laneways hold many surprising secrets. This one's called The Causeway.

Take a break, forget about life for a while and drink yourself silly.

A derelict, erm... cozy corner at one of Melbourne's famous laneways. (Number 8 bar, next to Shanghai Dumpling House)

'Picasso: Love and War' exhibition, probably one of the best (and the only, National Art Gallery in KL doesn't count!) art exhibition I've seen in an attempt to be 'artistically-sensitive'.
